Preventive care

Vaccines matched to your pet's real life

Vaccination isn't one-size-fits-all. We build a plan around your pet's age, health and lifestyle - protecting against the diseases they're actually likely to encounter here in Northern Colorado, without over-vaccinating.

A plan that fits how your pet lives

We start with the core vaccines every pet needs, then add lifestyle protection based on your pet's specific risks.

  • Core dog vaccinesRabies and the combination distemper/parvovirus vaccine that every dog should have.
  • Core cat vaccinesRabies and the feline combination vaccine to guard against serious, common diseases.
  • Lifestyle vaccinesOptions like Bordetella, leptospirosis and feline leukemia, recommended based on your pet's exposure.
  • A tailored schedulePuppy and kitten series, adult boosters, and senior adjustments - timed to your individual pet.
  • Risk-based recommendationsWe consider hiking, boarding, dog parks and Colorado wildlife when we build the plan.
  • Honest, no-pressure adviceWe recommend what your pet genuinely needs - never a vaccine for the sake of it.
Why it matters

Prevention is the easiest medicine there is

The diseases we vaccinate against - rabies, distemper, parvovirus and others - are serious, often fatal, and far harder to treat than to prevent. A well-timed vaccine schedule is one of the simplest, most effective ways to keep your pet healthy.

At the same time, we don't believe in over-vaccinating. We match the plan to your pet's real exposure, so they get exactly the protection they need and nothing they don't.

Pet vaccination FAQ

The questions Fort Collins pet owners ask us most about vaccines.

Which vaccines does my pet actually need?
Every dog and cat needs core vaccines like rabies. Beyond that, it depends on lifestyle - a dog that hikes, boards or visits dog parks may need Bordetella and leptospirosis, while an indoor cat's needs are different. We tailor the plan to your pet.
How often are boosters needed?
Puppies and kittens need an initial series, then most vaccines are boosted at set intervals - some yearly, some every three years. We'll keep track and let you know when your pet is due.
Are vaccines safe?
Vaccines are very safe and the protection they provide far outweighs the small risk. Reactions are uncommon and usually mild. We're always happy to talk through any concerns before vaccinating.
Is rabies vaccination required in Colorado?
Rabies is a core vaccine and is required by law for dogs and cats in Colorado. We'll make sure your pet stays current and provide documentation you may need for licensing, boarding or travel.
